Eqora tutorial: EQ on the spectrum, band by band
2 min read · Updated
Eqora is an 8-band parametric equalizer with a live spectrum. It removes what gets in the way (rumble, mud, harshness) and brings out what matters (presence, air), in stereo or Mid/Side. Insert it on a track, a bus or the master. The numbers match the markers on the screenshot.
Step by step

Insert Eqora
Insert Eqora on the track or bus, open its window and start playback.
Start from a preset
Pick a preset close to your source (for example Vocals > Vocal Presence, Utility > Mud Cut) or start from Flat (Init).
Clean up the low end
Switch on band 1 (high-pass) and drag its node to the right until the sound thins out, then back off a little.
Add a band on the curve
Double-click an empty spot on the curve: a free band switches on there. Drag it up / down for gain, left / right for frequency.
Set the width (Q)
The mouse wheel on a node sets the Q. To hunt a resonance: narrow boost, sweep, then turn it into a cut.
Compare and match level
Compare with BYPASS, then match the level with OUTPUT using the IN / OUT meters.
The eight bands
Band 1 is a high-pass and band 8 a low-pass, with 12, 24 or 48 dB/oct slopes. Bands 2 to 7 can be Bell, Low Shelf, High Shelf or Notch. Each has its ON, type, FREQ, GAIN (±18 dB) and Q. A band that is off is fully transparent, and with all bands off, Eqora leaves the signal bit-identical.
Working on the curve
Dragging a node sets frequency and gain together; the wheel sets Q (Shift for fine adjustment); double-clicking a node switches it on or off; a right-click opens the type menu and reset. The grey spectrum shows the input, the coloured spectrum the output.
Stereo, Mid and Side
STEREO MODE processes both channels (Stereo), the centre only (Mid) or the sides only (Side). A classic on the master: a high-pass on the sides only (preset Master > Master Mono Bass (Side HPF)) to keep the low end centred.
Presets and good habits
Presets are sorted by category: Vocals, Drums, Bass, Instruments, Mix Bus, Master, Utility, Creative. Cut rather than boost, in small moves, and always compare at equal loudness: that is what OUTPUT is for.
Copying a reference's balance
To bring a track's colour closer to a reference song, Calqua computes the matching EQ automatically, with an amount control to stay natural.
Frequently asked questions
- Does Eqora add latency?
- No, it runs at zero latency and stays transparent as long as no band is active.
- What is Side mode for?
- To process only the sides of the stereo image, for example cutting the lows on the sides for a firmer low end.
- How do I find a resonance?
- Create a narrow, strong boost, sweep the frequencies slowly, then cut a few dB where the sound turns unpleasant.
